Gary Bye lives in rural eastern Washington state. When not writing, he can be found driving tractor or feeding cows with his son on the family wheat farm. With a background as a magazine editor and award-winning photographer for farm publications, Gary understands life in small towns. His formative years were spent as a high school teacher and coach, but he also spent several years working as a journalist in the nation’s capital and as a freelance writer for various magazines. Previously published books include a two-volume set recounting a century of local small-town football—From the First Whistle and To the Final Gun.

He and his wife are active in the lives of their three grown sons and a passel of little grandchildren. In his spare time, Gary can be found downhill skiing, attending cattle shows, or helping lead a local church.
